Tianna Cervantez
Board Certification 
Tianna Cervantez is a life-long resident of Galesburg. She is an alumna of Galesburg High School, Carl Sandburg College, and Knox College. She earned her AM from The University of Chicago's School of Social Service Administration in 2008. She is employed at Knox College as the co-Director of the Center for Intercultural Life and is a part-time instructor for the Anthropology-Sociology department. She has been a member of the Knox County Child Advocacy Center's Advisory Board since 2010 and is a volunteer assistant coach for the GHS Gadets. Her son, Tavian, is a current GHS student and is active in athletics and student activities. She feels that understanding the changes occurring within the demographic, economic and educational landscapes locally and nationally is imperative to the district's mission of educating all of its students. 

Amy Pickrel
Vice President
Board Certification
Amy Pickrel was born and raised in Carmel, Indiana. She attended Purdue University where she received her bachelor's degree in Communication. After graduating, she moved to Galesburg and married her husband, Doug. She has several immediate family members who have received their education from District 205 schools. Currently her two children attend school in District 205. She is employed as the Marketing Manager for Martin Sullivan. She has volunteered and served on the PTO for the past three years. Amy believes the education of children is one of the most important tasks we have as a community. To achieve excellence she believes that children, parents, teachers, administrators, board members and business partners must work together to remain focused to help children reach their full potential. 
Maury Lyon
Board Certification             
Maury Lyon moved to Galesburg in 1985 to work for District 205. He worked in various administrative positions for 25 years. His previous work in schools stretched for third grade in Chicago to fifth grade in Hotevilla, Az. Maury and his wife, Susan's, four grown children all attended the Galesburg public schools.
Academically, he has a BA from Carleton College, an MA from Northern Arizona University before receiving his doctorate in 1995 from the University of Illinois.
He is a strong advocate for public education as a necessary requirement for American democracy. He wants all children to be challenged by our schools and for parents to be engaged in a substantive manner in the process.

Vickie Banks 
Board Member
Board Certification
Vickie Banks was born and raised in Galesburg and taught in the district for twenty years at Cooke and King Elementary Schools. She graduated from Galesburg High School and has a Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in education from Western Illinois University and a Master's degree in social work from the University of Illinois. She spent fifteen years as an investigator, supervisor, and manager for the Department of Children and Family Services. She was a founding board member of the Child Advocacy Center and has been on the Board of Safe Harbor for many years. She has been a volunteer teacher for adults students in the English as a Second Language program for several years. Four of her eight grandchildren graduated from Galesburg High School and two still attend Galesburg schools. Vickie believes that we have an obligation to provide the best possible education for all students while being fiscally responsible, transparent, and accessible. We must recognize that the Board, the administration, the staff, the parents, the community and the students are all stakeholders and deserve respect and responsiveness as we work together for a district that is student-centered.   

 H. Wayne Statham

Wayne Statham grew up in Galesburg and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1978. He received a bachelor of science degree in political science in 1982 from Illinois State University, and received a juris doctorate degree from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1986. Mr. Statham has practiced law in Galesburg for 29 years. His wife is a counselor at Galesburg High School. His son is an elementary school teacher in another district, and his daughter is a registered nurse.
